Web Browsers & Operating Systems
Web Browsers & Operating Systems is a web site dedicated to following trends of web browsers and operating systems for internet usage. Data is gathered from a number of websites spanning a wide range of topics. If you have a website that is getting some traffic, please consider adding it for data gathering. The more websites participating, the more accurate data we will get.
The pie chart to the left shows which operating system people use to surf the internet. The data is for the year 2012 so far. You can click on the pie chart to get more detailed data and a click on the operating system's name highlights that particular slice.
Windows is having a firm grip on the market (91.83%), which is hardly surprising for anyone. It is followed by Mac OS (2.53%) and iPhone OS (1.67%). iOS (1.09%) is taking up the fourth spot currently with Android (0.92%) coming in at fifth.
There are much more detailed statistics available at the Operating Systems sub page. There you will see the trends over time and also graphs for the different versions of operating systems.
There are a bit more choices when it comes to web browsers. Microsoft's hold on the browser world is not as tight as it is when it comes to Operating systems.
The most used web browser is Internet Explorer with 80.39% of the market share. It is followed by Firefox and Safari with 10.63% and 6.32% of the surfing public respectively.
The fourth largest web browser is currently Chrome (1.33%) with BlackBerry Browser coming in fifth with a percentage of 0.65.
After the big five there are lots of other browsers – both for computers and mobile devices – trying to get more of the market share. Head over to the Web Browsers sub page to see a more detailed view of the current browser situation.
